About Me
Hi, I’m Monica, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher practicing in-person in Los Angeles, and virtually throughout California. I completed my undergraduate degree at UCLA, while also competing as a student-athlete. I became interested in Psychology and Mental Health while at UCLA, where I spearheaded a campaign to end the stigma around mental health and therapy on college campuses. I then went on to obtain my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern California. At the start of my career, I dove into working in community mental health, working with clients in early recovery from addiction in the Los Angeles area. Over the course of my career I’ve found myself specializing in working with young adults and adults who are navigating relational issues and/or anxiety and holding individual and group trauma-informed yoga sessions centered around healing from PTSD. I’m currently accepting new clients both in-person (in Manhattan Beach) and virtually throughout California.
My Therapy Approach
I prioritize safety, a trauma-informed lens, and authenticity, bringing my authentic self into the room so that you feel comfy and cozy enough to bring your authentic self into the room. I bring in awareness and integration of the mind-body connection, educating you around somatic practices to help you build skills to process your emotional experiences, and feel safe in your body. In working together, I aim to build a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship with you and consequently help you develop skills to improve relationships with others and more importantly (!!) the relationship with yourself.
